About Susan M. Peiffer
Writing has never been optional for Susan M. Peiffer. Like dreaming and breathing, it’s something integral to their existence. Championed from a young age to explore worlds through words, everyday she is thankful to be able to make a career from something that brings her so much challenging joy.
Susan M. Peiffer is a published educator and nationally recognized poet and spoken word artist with twenty years of experience in both the literary and academic realms. As a community activator they have worked since 2012 to elevate the literary arts in Colorado Springs. Susan’s confessional and observational writing covers social topics using colorful language and unique cadences to evoke emotion, elicit truth, and engage audiences while encouraging poetry as a life-long skill to enjoy. They are an animated and inclusive presenter who readily inspires the unique circumstances into which poems arrive.
Susan teaches seeking to create an environment where poetry is important and pertinent, accessible and approachable, where participants are treated as life-long learners engaged in the active process of writing, where multiple perspectives are considered, where whatever a person is saying someone else needs to hear it, and where the discipline of skilled poetry is finding the clearest, sensory, path in which to communicate about emotions and truth.
“Poetry is the way we help give name to the nameless so it can be thought. The farthest horizons of our hopes and fears are cobbled by our poems, carved from the rock experiences of our daily lives.”
